Pepa/Silvia Picspam - the runnerups (w/ top 5 touches)

Due to the symbiosis also known as Shell I found myself vicariously reliving Los Hombres de Paco after gently suggesting she'd give it a go. In turn she got me (wasn't that much "got-ing" needed) to rewatch it alongside her and I felt like immortalising the squeefest. Therefore I hereby present a list of my top 5 PepSi scenes in the form of a series of picspams. However we shall start the series with the runnerups.

- STALKING HAS NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD (aka Jedi Mind Flirt).
These scenes shouldn't work. In the words of Curtis "it's a fucking perfume commercial", over-the-top and horribly cliché. Not to mention kinda creepy in the way Pepa is quite clearly stalking Silvia and determined to win her back despite their break-up.

Everything from Silvia's laboured breathing as Pepa watches her, to the unseen (but felt) electric jolts as their hands bump into each other, to the Shakespearian balcony scene - works. It shouldn't work, it really shouldn't, but it does.

A determinted Pepa and a tentative Silvia submerged in a sea of "in love"-ness. Yeah, you actually find yourself buying every ounce of what they're selling. And what they're selling is strangely epic.

(Episode 7x13/92 "Lolito")

OH GOD! How I miss these two women. Those writers should have been murdered in there sleep for what they did!

It's a shame there won't be any more, a real shame, but I am one of those crazy masochists who kinda get a kick out of what the writers did. Don't get me wrong, heartache and heartbreak, but at the same time it makes it kinda epic. How is anything ever gonna top that?

Besides I'm an erase and rewind kinda person. Forget about that final episode, better to just go back and watch from the beginning, again. And again. And possibly a third time. :D

Some of the scenes and storylines were so trite and cliche...and yet you still can't help falling in love with these two. It's quite amazing.

Oh yes. I had no intentions whatsoever of falling so much in love with these two that I took the time to actually convert and upload their scenes to my iPod in case I got PepSi urges in-transit. No plans whatsoever. Yet here I am with an iPod full of PepSi.

yes i agree VERY cliche...but like jollyape said "IT WORKED" & here we are hopeless in love w/ these two.

And who knew it felt so good to be hopelessly in love with fictional characters?! :D

What you wrote is amazing!

Yes,that scene was very over the top and cliche but god, with these two, it was a "perfect scene". When they first air the scene, I couldn't keep my eyes off them. I wanted to feel how Pepa couldn't stop adoring her Silvia and how Silvia couldn't resist looking back. You could feel the electric communication between that I was begging for them to get back to together.

Have you checked our PepSi University: http://pepsiuniversity.blogspot.com/

It's devoted to Pepa and Silvia with alot of different lectures. Currently Silvialogy is still going but Pepalogy is coming SOON!

Great job!!

Why thank you :)

Yep, I've become an avid lurker of the University. In fact somewhat of a fan. Any people who take an quasi-academic approach to dissecting fiction for entertainment purposes automatically have a place in my heart. Then add the gorgeous sapphism and that place is basically a three-room apartment, with a balcony and a fireplace.

And since I've only lurked the site I must take the moment at hand to give you kudos for it. Brilliant work.

LOVELY picspam! So funny how you described everything - it fit perfectly! Yes, that stare that Pepa gives Silvia in the cafe screams 'stalker' but you just don't notice as the music starts and their hands brush - only Marian and Laura could have pulled that off. But one thing I've also loved about LHDP is the editing - the slomo, the close ups, the music - as you say, it shouldn't work, heck, it wouldn't work anywhere else, but somehow it does.

Oh and I LOVE the back touch! One of my favorite touches/kissing scenes! It couldn't be it's because I find Pepa impossibly f*cking hot in that blue flannel shirt now, could it? ;D

[info]thejollyape

November 20 2009, 17:54:41 UTC 2 years ago

The flannel definitely helps (now that's a sentence I never thought I'd write). But the scenes hotness does indeed go beyond that. I've got a thing for how Silvia's hands have snuck up under the gun holster. Don't know why, but I like it, a lot.

Yep, definitely need to give the director/editing major props for just going for it. I like their "no stopping us now" approach to most things on the show. Sure there was camp and kitch, but there was also scenes like the slowmo or the garage hotness.

And thank you for the compliment :)

Mmmmm... I love them all. And I miss them. And I love any time they show Pepa in that damn shoulder harness...

November 19 2009, 23:55:45 UTC 2 years ago

Mmm...the shoulder holster is made of WIN! :D

November 20 2009, 17:59:03 UTC 2 years ago

Yes, I shall not dwell on the funny and/or awesomeness of them making sure their overtly lesbian character never is without her harness, but I shall agree on the love. And that harness is love.

THANK YOU FOR THIS! I &hearts everything: the caps you chose, not to mention your spot-on comments and JEDI MIND FLIRT - it actually cracked me up which is so bad considering the circumstances, but, hell, PepSi is way more than angst & drama, am I right?

[info]thejollyape

November 20 2009, 18:02:53 UTC 2 years ago

Way, way more. It's something so rare as a lesbian couple that is allowed to be silly without the silly being hurtful. Just another reason in an ocean of reasons to be loving the pairing.

And you are most welcomed. I'm glad someone else can find some enjoyment in my obsession :D

Mhm. Still haven't gathered the courage to actually watch the final episode, nor do I think I will. There is a strange kind of beauty in the complete tragedy, and any good love story really needs that tragedy, Shakespeare made sure of that. But yeah, prefer to linger on the good times.

November 20 2009, 08:47:10 UTC 2 years ago

It shouldn't work, it really shouldn't, but it does.

This is exactly what I keep saying whenever I watch this show. Everything seems to work for them, no matter how ridiculous or corny it is.

Fabulous picspam!

Också, det är verkligen jättekul att möta en andra Pepa/Silvia fan från Norden!

[info]thejollyape

November 20 2009, 18:10:26 UTC 2 years ago

Thank you kindly :)

Mhm, in theory most everything about this pairing will make you grin out of pure cheese. Then you watch one of their scenes and you see the way the two look at each other and suddenly the silly grin on your face has nothing to do with dairy products and everything to do with you being a romantic fool.

Ja, men lite PepSi är precis vad vi behöver här uppe nu i vintermörkret. Säkert kort att undvika vinterdepressioner. Border ordineras på större skala :D
